The CareerLabsVR system has a broad potential when it comes to its capabilities for usage. Since its creation, the evolution of the system has been constant as new markets look to access ways to leverage the immersive power of virtual reality for career exploration.
Employment Centres across Canada and the United States have come to rely on the CareerLabsVR (CLVR) system as a tool to introduce clients to career possibilities without leaving the comfort of their home or office. In addition to engaging virtual reality experiences, training is provided to the career coaches to assist in guided reflection, grounding, and health and safety for a client when using the CLVR system. Whether using CLVR to engage individual clients, or groups – the system lends itself to versatility.
The evolution of CareerLabsVR has led to school boards across North America using the career experiences within classrooms, and in remote learning. While the simulations are an engaging way for students to learn about career on an individual basis or classroom setting, the system also has tools to support remote learning. Each experience has a coinciding first person video that allows the viewer access to the curated material, when virtual reality hardware or classroom instruction is not accessible. Through this learning style, students and teachers discuss skills observed and spend further time researching together the career path, education, wage, and career outlook.
Post-secondary institutes and employers are also using the CLVR system. Citing a need to allow prospective students and employees a glimpse into their program offerings or employment opportunities, recruitment has utilized the CLVR experiences as a method of exposure and education.
No matter the application, the intent of the CareerLabsVR system remains the same – a system through which the user can find their future!
